Located in Midtown Santa Cruz, Home/Work opened its doors in 2015. Our locally-owned gift shop caters to the thoughtful shopper with its unique selection of stylish and functional designer pieces.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Retail Sales Associate to join our team. Job responsibilities include sales and customer service, social media and website help, as well as online sales fulfillment. This role offers 11-16.5 hours per week, with the opportunity to pick up more shifts throughout the year. Weekend and summer availability are a must. A minimum six-month commitment is required.

Job Description

Retail Sales

  • Ensure that customers feel cared for by greeting and assisting them and answering their questions
  • Ensure that the store is clean, well organized, properly stocked, and that products are meticulously displayed
  • Prepare for opening and/or closing the store

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older and comfortable to work alone for part of your shift
  • Able to provide a warm and welcoming environment to customers
  • Able to handle critical customer situations with ease
  • Able to thrive in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal one-on-one, team, and partnership skills
  • Seeks out feedback and is excited about self-growth and improvement within the context of the job
  • Resourceful problem-solver and strong ability to resolve or smooth issues in the moment
  • Must pay strong attention to detail and have excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task and manage a variety of projects simultaneously, and ability to work in an interruption-prone environment
  • Must be available to work weekends (both Saturday and Sunday), holidays, and weekday afternoons
  • Access to Google Drive, understanding of social media, and some basic technical skills
  • Able to hold a consistent schedule

Strongly Preferred

  • 1+ years of retail sales experience
  • Experience working in a small, independent store
  • Experience with POS software/systems
  • Reliable source of transportation
  • Access to a smartphone
  • Interest in social media and product photography
